Question 09

What is the difference between ISO certification and accreditation?

ISO certification and accreditation are related but serve different purposes in the certification process.

ISO certification is issued to an organization after it successfully implements and complies with a specific ISO standard, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001. This certification confirms that the organization follows internationally recognized management practices.

Accreditation, on the other hand, is granted to certification bodies (audit organizations) to confirm that they are competent to issue ISO certifications. In India, accreditation is typically provided by bodies such as National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), which operates under the Quality Council of India (QCI). Accreditation ensures that certification bodies follow proper audit processes and maintain credibility.

In simple terms, organizations receive ISO certification, while certification bodies receive accreditation.

At Uniquo, we assist organizations in achieving ISO certification through accredited certification bodies, ensuring credibility and acceptance across industries in India.
