Question 13

What happens to condemned lifting tools?

Condemned lifting tools and tackles are immediately removed from service to prevent accidental use and ensure workplace safety.

In the Indian context, once a lifting tool is identified as unsafe during inspection, it is clearly marked as rejected or “Do Not Use” and physically segregated from usable equipment. This helps ensure that damaged or defective tools are not mistakenly used in lifting operations.

Depending on the condition, condemned tools may be repaired by an authorized service provider (if repair is permitted and feasible) and then re-inspected before reuse. However, if the damage is beyond acceptable repair limits, the equipment is permanently discarded or scrapped as per site safety procedures.

At Uniquo, we ensure that condemned lifting tools are clearly identified, documented, and safely removed from service to prevent risks and maintain safe lifting operations across Indian construction and industrial sites.
