Question 15

Is scaffold inspection required before commissioning a new scaffold?

Yes, scaffold inspection is mandatory before a newly erected scaffold is commissioned for use.

In the Indian context, a scaffold must be thoroughly inspected by a competent person before any work begins on it to ensure it is safe, stable, and properly assembled. This includes verifying structural integrity, correct installation of all components, safe access arrangements, fall protection systems, and compliance with applicable safety practices followed on construction and industrial sites in India.

The pre-use inspection helps identify any erection errors, missing parts, or unsafe conditions that could pose risks to workers. Only after the scaffold is found to be safe should it be tagged and approved for use.

At Uniquo, we conduct detailed commissioning inspections for new scaffolds to ensure they meet all safety requirements and are fit for safe operation before workers are allowed to access them.
