Question 01

Why is scaffold inspection necessary?

Scaffold inspection is necessary to ensure the safety of workers and the structural stability of the scaffolding system used at construction and industrial sites.

In the Indian context, scaffolding is widely used in construction, maintenance, oil & gas, and manufacturing projects, where working at height is involved. Regular inspection helps identify issues such as loose fittings, improper assembly, corrosion, overloading, or damage caused by weather conditions.

It is also an important part of compliance with workplace safety requirements under Indian labour safety regulations and good engineering practices. A properly inspected scaffold reduces the risk of accidents like falls, structural collapse, and material failure, which are among the most common causes of serious injuries at construction sites.

Ultimately, scaffold inspection ensures a safe working environment, protects workers’ lives, and helps projects run smoothly without unexpected stoppages or legal safety violations.
