What does a lux survey involve?
A lux survey involves systematically measuring the level of illumination in a workplace or facility to assess whether lighting conditions are adequate for safe and efficient work.
In the Indian industrial context, a lux survey typically begins with a site walkthrough to identify different work areas such as production zones, assembly lines, warehouses, offices, corridors, and outdoor spaces. Measurement points are then selected based on the type of activity performed in each area.
Using a calibrated lux meter, light intensity is measured at working height across multiple locations to capture accurate and representative readings. These readings are then compared against recommended lighting levels based on occupational health and safety guidelines.
The survey helps identify under-lit or over-lit areas, glare issues, and uneven lighting distribution that may affect worker safety, productivity, or visual comfort.
At Uniquo, we conduct detailed lux surveys across industries in India and provide clear reporting along with practical recommendations to improve workplace lighting conditions and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
