What is a lux test (illumination survey)?
A lux test, also known as an illumination survey, is a measurement process used to evaluate the level of lighting in a workplace or specific area. It determines how much light is available on a surface and is measured in lux, which indicates illumination intensity.
In this test, a calibrated lux meter is used to measure light levels at different points within a facility, such as workstations, production areas, warehouses, offices, construction sites, and outdoor work zones. The results help assess whether lighting conditions are adequate for safe and efficient work.
In the Indian industrial context, lux testing is commonly conducted in manufacturing units, construction projects, power plants, warehouses, commercial buildings, and infrastructure sites to ensure proper visibility, worker safety, and productivity.
The results are compared against recommended lighting standards based on occupational health and safety guidelines to identify under-lit or over-lit areas that may require improvement.
At Uniquo, we conduct detailed illumination surveys to help industries across India ensure safe working conditions, improve visual comfort, and maintain compliance with applicable workplace safety standards.
