Question 01

What is a noise test (occupational noise assessment)?

A noise test, also known as an occupational noise assessment, is a measurement process used to evaluate the level of noise exposure in a workplace environment. It helps determine whether workers are exposed to sound levels that could affect hearing health and overall safety.

In this test, sound level meters and noise dosimeters are used to measure noise intensity over a specific period and location. The results are compared against permissible exposure limits defined by occupational health and safety guidelines.

In the Indian industrial context, occupational noise assessment is commonly conducted in factories, construction sites, power plants, manufacturing units, mining areas, and other heavy industrial environments where machinery and equipment generate high noise levels.

The purpose of the test is to identify high-noise areas, assess worker exposure, and recommend control measures such as engineering controls, administrative controls, or personal protective equipment (PPE) like ear plugs or ear muffs.

At Uniquo, we conduct occupational noise assessments in accordance with applicable Indian safety regulations and international standards to help industries ensure worker health, regulatory compliance, and a safer working environment.
