Question 01

What is Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)?

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is a method used to evaluate the condition, integrity, and safety of materials, components, and equipment without causing any damage or affecting their usability. NDT helps identify defects such as cracks, corrosion, leaks, weld defects, and structural weaknesses while keeping the equipment in service.

Common NDT methods include:

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT)
  • Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)
  • Visual Testing (VT)
  • Eddy Current Testing (ECT)

In India, NDT is widely used across industries such as manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, power plants, infrastructure, and heavy engineering to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

Uniquo performs NDT in accordance with applicable guidelines under the Factories Act, 1948, standards from the Bureau of Indian Standards, and industry best practices recommended by the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health.

By using NDT, organizations can detect potential failures early, improve reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure safe operations without dismantling or damaging equipment.
